You could tell we were close to the source, the earth stained water was sporadic and the freshness prominent. Somehow it looked inviting and intimidating at the same time. Water flowing like a crowded city crossing, mostly direct but with rocks disrupting and protruding, standing their ground and disrupting the flow.

Swollen River is a painting that explores the conflicting moods that can be present when nature is at its boldest. Like feeling excitement during a big storm, when you also know that elsewhere it could cause proper damage around the place.
