The weather — it was so reliable, so predictable. The wind always light in the morning and whipping up throughout the day. Less swell, but more surfable days. It’s conflicting — we spend more time at the beach and enjoy the stability of the weather, but during these times, a sense of nostalgia builds, one that pines for the unpredictability of not being El Niño.

The grass is always greener, El Niño truly is pleasant and the safer option, less floods, less extremes, less chaos. El Niño is a painting of contemplation and hindsight, why does the grass always seem greener and why will I probably forget how devastating this La Niña has been. Nostalgia must be built up by single-minded thoughts; I think of how fun the ocean becomes but forget the weeks of rain.
